Maternity clothes are pretty hit and miss, I think any woman who has ever been pregnant would agree.
Today I had absolutely nothing to wear. None of my normal clothes fit me,and the two pairs of maternity jeans I've been wearing in rotation were both in the washing machine. I made do with pj's all morning and sat quietly doing my tax return. (booo!)
Then after lunch I remembered this purple cord skirt I'd bought in a charity shop before Xmas. The skirt was waaay to big and too long for me,so using another skirt as a guide I cut it down to size, and added a ribbing yoke. ( I had to borrow India's sewing machine, mine is still minus a needle plate. )
I'm pleased with the result, and may run up a few more like this. I much prefer to wear skirts than jeans.
WARNING! There follows some scary bump shots to show the ribbing yoke in action, don't look if you are eating or squemish in any way!
I guess this is what happens when you regularly sew through several layers of heavy corduroy on a domestic machine, I'm right now too upset to even have the energy to cry.

Photo tag, here are the rules;
1. Take your fourth picture folder
2. Fourth picture–no exceptions!
3. Post it, and tell about it.
4. Tag four more people
This photo was taken in April last year, just after I got my new camera, it's a lovely bright pic and it's certainly cheered up this cold grey January morning.
So, I need to tag four more people

Over to you!
Oh yes, and while I'm here thank you for all the lovely comments on my announcement,I was really pleased to see them.
The reason not a lot has been going on here lately.I haven't exactly kept this secret, but just in case there is anyone out there reading that doesn't already know ; we are expecting baby no 5 sometime in July.
Working on custom orders, the washing machine is full of custom dyed corduroy, and I've a pile of pod blankets at various stages of completion, plus this; a special applique for a special order.
I haven't sewn anything in a while, things are still pretty crazy around here, not much energy for crafts I'm afraid..or much else to be honest!
This is something to cross off my list of sewing projects for January. I was very restrained, and only put three things on my list, only two more to go.
This bag is made using the "One Of Everything" bag pattern in Anna Maria Horners book, "Seams To Me", and using Anna's gorgeous Garden Party fabrics. I didn't follow the pattern exactly,I changed the handles, and added interior pockets, plus some ric rac on the interior for fun (and to hide a row of stitching I didn't like!).
I also added the fabric flower brooch for fun.
This is the view that greeted me from my bedroom window this morning. A sprinkling of snow, blue sky and sunshine. What better for the first day of 2009?
