I keep a journal on my sewing desk,I have lists of work sewing, lists of sewing for the kids, lists for me,lists of projects to try, lists of sewing for pressies...I'm a compulsive list maker!
I've spent the past week working my way through these lists. I really would love a blank page in that journal in time for Christmas...so I can make a list of sewing to sneak in while the children are playing with their new toys, and a list for the New Year projects too!
So here are some pics of some of the sewing, things not pictured include,a dress alteration,a jeans to skirt redo, and some new loose covers for a sofa.
This is a photo of the Amy Butler Apron Overlay Skirt, a present for my best friends birthday...she loved it!
These pics are of some wrap lounge pants I ran up quickly today. There's nothing I like more than to snuggle up in pj's on a cold winters evening, but I thought these wrap pants were nice enough to also wear during the day,and still feel as comfy as I do in my pj's.
I used some gorgeous flannel I'd been saving for a while, but I think they'd be lovely in a lightweight cotton or linen in the summer for casual day wear.
I got the idea from here

Not a good combination! I'd planned this coat for Sid for a while. I adapted a vintage pattern I'd bought in a charity shop when I was first pregnant with India 12 odd years ago.I love the vintage styling, but wanted to use bright funky fabrics to update it. (you can see the pattern in the bottom left of the photo below.)
All started well, but one silly mistake led to another, and then half way through I tried it on Sid and was instantly transported back 7 years to when Eden was a 2 year old! I realised my usual disregard for gender stereotypes had probably gone a touch too far,and it really did look like a girls coat!
The final mistake was putting on the fastenings the "girls way" ! I think by that point I knew I was going to have to make Sid a new coat and find another home for this one.
I got him to model anyway (rather reluctantly I have to say, even he doesn't like it.)
I forgot to say it's reversable.

I'm well and truly settled in to my new workspace now.Having re opened my store at the beginning of the month,I have had enough orders already to put my new space to the test.
Here are a few examples of custom orders I completed this weekend.
I love this pot pourri fabric so much,I made myself a bag too. I used the freebie pattern from Ottobre

After having builders in all summer converting our loft into a bedroom with ensuite and small workspace for me,I can finally get in there and sew.
I have a lovely new desk, and lots of storage space,so everything is on hand.I must say it's so lovely to hide up there!
I'm still adding finishing touches to the sewing area, but will post pics when I've finished.
Meanwhile here are a few pics of my latest projects.
New monkey trousers and matching t shirt for Sid .
Some recycled longies, made from a dull grey cardy,I used one of the pockets on his bum!
And I'm still working on that perfect toddler Mei Tai! Modelled pics to follow.
Eden took these photos this morning just before our school run.

Couldn't do any work sewing this morning because I'm either waiting for fabrics that are in the pre wash or waiting for fabrics to arrive. I pondered starting the corset I've been meaning to make for several months, but I'm still too scared..pity,cos I *need* it!
Instead though I decided to make this tunic, and it turned out pretty well.As usual I ignored the instructions and did my own thing. I hate that I do this, but I truly seem incapable of reading instructions.
So I've bound the neck and front edge rather than piddle about with teeny facings, and I didn't elasticate the sleeves...elastic not a good look on my fat arms!

Today I have been hiding from my neighbours! We are having our loft converted and so far our neighbours have been very understanding,(plus the builders have been very tidy and considerate.)but my neighbour one side has no tv reception due to our scaffolding and therefore can't watch her husband play in the rugby world cup,and my other neighbour values her mornings in bed,so didn't appeciate being woken by hammering at 8am this morning...Ooops!
So,I've buried myself in sewing and these are the results.
Firstly a jeans to skirt re do for Eden.
A blouse. This pattern came with the wrong instructions,so I had to wing it,and I forgot the waist darts! Not sure if I'm going to add them or not....
Finally, a skirt. This is the layered skirt from the Amy Butler Barcelona skirts pattern.

I was directed to morsbags.com last week, and thought it was such a cool idea, and something I could do with my children over the holidays.
Today India and I got started and these are the results. No labels yet, they are on order.
Only thing is,we both like our bags so much,we don't want to give them away!
