I had a huge list of work to get through this weekend,but I was far too ill to get through it all. The boys both came down with a nasty cold bug too.
Thankfully I do feel quite a bit better today,so have managed to package up these tester Mei Tais,and will be taking them to the post office this afternoon.
I'm actually quite nervous about sending these off. I have already tested this design over thesummer with a few parents,but this is the final tweaking stage. Fingers crossed.....

I seem to have caught whatever it is Eden is almost over. Doing the school run this morning was painful,so on my way home I popped into the local shops and bought some warburtons toastie bread,and these...
I actually think Tunnocks Caramel Wafers should be available on the NHS!
Eden is off school sick, I don't feel too great myself,my iron is broken,and one of my usually super reliable fabric suppliers are late shipping my order...oh yes and this morning I got dog poo on my boots!
All in all, there's not much happening around here,certainly not much creativity,it took all my energy just to cover these buttons.
Any get up and go vibes going spare out there,please chuck em in this direction.
Yesterday's Family Day, run by Slinging In The Rain to celebrate International Babywearing Week was a great success.
Rachel,Souad, Mary and myself were soooo nervous! having never organised anything like this before,and with no budget and no time we managed to pull it together over the past two weeks. (after a gentle kick from Rachel's dh).
We had loads of help from our respective hubby's, setting up, serving tea and cakes, taking photos, we couldn't have done it without them.
I even roped in my older children,and India did a fantastic job of selling and organizing the raffle tickets and prize draw.
Ian, the minister of Levenshulme Baptist Church, where we hold our meeting was also a great help, sorting out the projector and microphones and agreeing to draw the raffle prizes.
Then of course there were all the people who baked yummy cakes and came along to help out in any way they could. the other fabby stall holders,and Baby Boogie dancing...the list goes on...Thank you!!
I hope everyone that came along enjoyed themselves..I know I did,even if I am still exhausted today.

The first completed project is this soft baby ball, made with cotton and blue wool..with a tinkle when it's rolled or played with.

A matching "Mummy On The go" wristlet bag, and some little cotton trousers for the baby.
These are the "Goofy" pants from the current issue of Ottobre. I really enjoyed sewing these up.the pattern is simple,but effective,and I'm in love with this fabric.
I found some yummy soft blue wool that goes with it perfectly so am planning a few nursery type items for the Etsy shop.
i'm taking a gamble that she will be far too busy with baby no 5 to see this on here.
Red silk ring sling with cotton accent. There is a little piece of stitching on this I'm really not happy with,and hoping it wont be noticed by the recipient. I hate it when gifts are not perfect,but it's only a small cosmetic flaw.(that will probably bug me forever..LOL) I didn't want to risk unpicking too much on delicate silk.
That's one thing to cross off my very long and getting longer sewing list,it's that time of year again!
Just back from a fabby weekend in North Yorkshire. We ventured to Whitby, which was of course full of Goths. (It was Whitby Goth Weekend) Weirdly we haven't got a single stray goth in any of our photos,believe me there were lots of them. They all looked like they were having a great time too...weird for Goths!
While away I finally finished the socks I've been knittying for the past 3 and a half years. They are far from perfect,but kept Indias feet cosy when we went for a very wet cycle ride through the forest where we were staying.
Oh yes,and we found the lost beret.
I started knitting this scarf a few weeks ago.Woody had gone out for the evening so I sat in bed knitting,drinking tea and watching Brief Encounter.
I used yarn I bought a few years ago,it's Jacob Sheep yarn,so it's not been dyed,it's the colour of the wool in it's natural state.
I love the lanoliny smell when I bury my face in it.
I wanted a long and snuggly scarf for the school runs,and I actually finished knitting this a couple of weeks ago,but couldn't decide how to finish the ends. I initially envisioned large pom poms,but finally decided on fringe after wearing the scarf unfinished for the past two weeks.
Last night I added the fringe, so now it's all ready for our weekend away in the woods.
I made this for Eden to wear on her beret,but now she can't find her beret!
Made from felted wool scraps and a button.
Remember those wool sweaters I bought at the charity shop? They felted up nicely,and i've started to use them . Mittens for me,and for Eden. (India is modelling my pair.)
Don't think i'll get away with dressing them alike for very much longer,but for now they are both very happy with the fleece hoodies I ran up for them this afternoon.
We are going away this weekend, staying in a log cabin in a forest. The weather has gone very cold,so warm things are on the agenda.
Just thought I'd add this cos I love it! Still fine tuning the design,but when I'm done I'll add a tutorial here.
Outer is gorgeous japanese cotton, a scrap left over from other projects, lined with bright purple needlecord. I used heavy canvas as a stabilising layer.
The snack/lunch bags I have been making lately are, I've discovered great for carrying those essentials like purse, keys and phone when I don't want to carry my whole handbag. They are also fab for keeping purse, keys and phone in, and popping into whichever handbag I'm using on any given day. I hate having to swap everything from one bag to another,but using one of these handy little wristlets is great and makes swaping things over simple and quick.
So, with that in mind, I've whipped up a couple for Mummy's out there who might like something pretty for themselves. available in my Etsy shop now. 
Oh yes, they are just the right size to hold sock knitting too.
That hour might catch up with me later,but it was lovely to sit in bed and enjoy the clocks going back a whole hour this morning!
Oh yes, and this morning I added new stock to my Etsy store,I also jiggled the prices around a bit to take into account the current exchange rate and economy.
Sid wore his new trousers to mini movers today (toddler gym class),and they fit great. I had to roll up the legs a little,I've made them with lots of growing room,so they should last the winter. I like this pattern,and I think with a couple more adjustments I'll use it again.
The fabric is what really makes this pair so great though,so we'll have to wait and see how they look in less extravagant fabric.
Only time to post quickly,should really be feeding my children a nourishing dinner ( hmmm, wonder what's in the freezer? )
Cut these out weeks ago,and finally got around to sewing them up this afternoon.
The pattern is "Kalle" Outdoor Pants from Ottobre Autumn 2008. I didn't stick rigidly to the pattern,I never do,but these have turned out pretty well really.
Rubbish pics, it's too dark for decent pics,so I'll try and get some better modelled ones tomorrow. You get the idea though I hope.

I've had yet another super busy week this week,and I've a super busy weekend to look forward to.
I have been sewing between other commitments,but nothing much I can share right now apart from this bucket storage bag I whipped up this afternoon out of the last piece of my Dahlia spoonflower fabric.
I might do a tutorial for these when I get a minute.

So back from the shops,and here is my haul. Wool jumpers were sadly hard to find,shame you can't felt acrylic,there was lots of that in such lovely colours.
I did find this great old dressing gown though,only £1,and there's loads of lovely fabric there to make Sid some warm trousers for the winter,plus those pretty buttons.
And finally, I spotted these pretty side plates, 5 for £1.50. I love that retro design and the colours are perfect.
Now I must do some work......
This is how this cardigan came out of the washing machine....
So I trimmed down the frill and added some pretty ribbon.
I'll admit I'm not entirely happy with this project. I started to make this bag at the weekend,the idea had been formulating in my mind for a while,but I'm just not sure I like the final product.
The fabric is my design, printed by spoonflower,and although I was and indeed still am very pleased with how this design printed,I can see now how I'd like to make improvements. The scale of the repeat is just too large for a bag,and I think I'd also prefer a colour in the background rather than plain white.
The bag is very large and capacious...I was working on the theory that a large bag would make me look smaller...LOL
I used soft needlecord for the "yoke" and straps,and lined the bag with blue/grey silk dupion.
I think this bag will make a great shopper or weekend bag, especially as the straps are long enough to wear across the body.
Super busy here with family,work and other stuff,but I did have a lovely fabric delivery yesterday.
I got a little sewing done this afternoon, nothing fancy just a quick and easy wrap skirt in some soft needlecord and with an accent print.
I wanted to add some ric rac to this,but I only had orange or red...must buy more ric rac.
Not my best work,but it's a winter skirt to add to my wardrobe,and it should go nicely with my yellow shoes.
Really should've made the effort to change thread for the ties though.
