Skirtember 2012

It's Skirtember time again, and this year I'm thinner, so I need lots more new skirts.
Day one skirt is made from some lovely wool tweed I picked up in the charity shop for £3, and I've still got quite a large piece left.
I used the skirt part of the Colette Crepe pattern.
This is the second time I've done this, and I have to say I prefer using just the skirt part, the bodice just doesn't really work for me I don't think.
For this skirt, I just made a large button hole to thread the wrap ties through so that it sits comfortably around my waist.
My first Crepe skirt, I didn't do that, I just kept the waist ties quite slim and they wrap well without being thread through.
This is quite a bulky skirt, and very warm. I can see this becomming a firm winter favourite.

So, wearing my new tweed skirt yesterday I set to making three more skirts. These were made using my own pattern, and if you look over to the left and scroll down you'll see a link showing you how to draft your own pattern for one of these simple A line skirts.

  1. You are so clever! I really admire people who are so creative - I'd love to be able to sew. But as I can't, I like to see all the things that other people make!
I found your blog (I think) through a link on FB several months ago and have read it from start to finish. I lost my first son 15 minutes after he was born, and I was so sad to read about your beautiful little Florence.
I just thought I'd say hello and let you know that I'm popping in to read your updates and covet your creative skills! :-)

  3. You look amazing {yet again!}, love your shoes!!
I've never tried to make a pattern for me, but hope to give the skirt a go once Fonzy starts nursery. I'll miss Skirtmeber but might wing it a bit for Dressember
    Inspirational as always

  4. Oh I wish I could sew. Buying clothes for my shape is so hard, this would make things so much simpler.
You look FABULOUS by the way!
