Me Made May '14 Week Two!

6:02 pm

Me Made May '14 days 8-10
I'm really enjoying Me Made May '14. I do wear me made most days, but there are items in my wardrobe I make and rarely wear, this project is making me look at those items again, and work out why I don't wear them...Lady Skater dresses I'm looking at you!
Weirdly, every time I wear one of my Lady Skater's Woody tells me how nice it looks...OK this morning he said "that dress really slims you down", which for him is a compliment, but what I heard was far from a compliment and we did have a fairly lengthy albeit lighthearted bicker about how he can't give a compliment, and I apparently can't take one!

I think I don't like my Lady skater dresses because of my fabric choices, maybe I need to make one in a more stable knit. The one I wear most is my red one, made from a far too stable vintage knit, but it's the one I feel most comfortable in.

Let's see what next week teaches me about my Me Made wardrobe. If you are taking part this year, what lessons have you learnt so far?

Don't be shy, say hello!

  1. Hi, I'm loving me made May, it's the first time I've taken part. I'm trying not to repeat any outfits. It's quite a challenge as I work on a gardening project and end up wearing jeans at least three days a week. I've realized that I need to make more separates instead of being seduced by dresses all the time! I really like your Lady skaters, the choice of fabric gives them a real vintage feel!

  2. This is my first MMMay and it is forcing me to think about the things I wear, what I'm comfortable in and where I go from here. I'ma new sewer, and I'd say I've established I can make skirts, but what I really want to make is dresses. I need to find more time to actually sew then I would have more to wear!

Looking forward to seeing week 3's outfits.

    1. My first MMMay too! I like having to think a little bit more about what I'm going to wear each day and pushing myself out of my comfort zone a little.

  3. No chance of joining in this time but in between sewing and knitting for the online shop, I made an Amy Butler lined A line skirt in some gifted Liberty fabric, not sure if the colour is Me though! I think I just need to pick out one if my colours in the skirt and find a solid Tee to go with it.

I have also found a really nice wrap dress courtesy of Vogue and I am thinking of making that and then knitting a matching shrug as my outfit for Sara's wedding. Chances are I will also make a reversible headband and matching bag, I can do these in my sleep!!

Loved the skater dress? Leggings and yellow cardi combo it really suits you.

    1. San, goodness you sound busy! The blue dress with the yellow cardy is made from a pattern in the GBSB book, much cheaper at The Book People btw.
