So, stress anyone?

4:48 pm

Ernest has been back in hospital. His jaundice peeked again, and so he needed more phototherapy. this time at the children's ward.
Let's just say I didn't manage to hold it together quite so well on this visit, and when the pead started to look for a vein in his hand I had a massive flashback and panic attack.
We were very well looked after by the staff though, and able to come home by lunch time today, with everything crossed that the jaundice doesn't get bad again.
The pead assured me Ernest is a healthy baby, and this kind of jaundice is not uncommon.
Just keeping everything crossed that the levels don't rise again, because if they do, it's another trip to hospital, and I'm not sure how much more we can take...and dear Universe that's not a challenge!

Don't be shy, say hello!

  1. Oh help :(

    Poor you. Poor poor, you.

Did he get to wear the cute Powerranger face mask though? One of my nicest days, ironically, was with Freddie under those lights. So bloody hot though. Couldn't help being slightly sarcastic when they worried about him being hot and fidgetty by the end of it.

PS - several of my extended kid families have had lots of jaundice and are all just fine.

Hope other kids holding up okay.

  3. Oh no!! You must be having a very scary time. Tobias was severely jaundiced and almost needed hospitalising but luckily my MW held off. He lost almost a lb in the first week. I remember being beside myself with worry... and i didn't have your memories to deal with. All i can say is I cluster fed him non stop for days and days and pretty much weeks and made sure he latched on ok and fed him almost naked to keep him awake. He was absolutly fine and the jandice went. It's no unusual. And you have had so much to contend with.
    Thinking of you all.

  6. Oh no. Ick. Oh Jeanette I'm so sorry. I know that I did not appreciate being back in hospital with J that time one little bit. And I don't think they even put a needle near her in the end.

I hope that the jaundice doesn't come back. Your Ernest is such a cutie! xo

  11. He's so beautiful and I hope you don't mind me saying, but he looks like Florence.
I'm sorry you've had all these trips to the hospital. Never fun. And especially not being a babylost mama, when we're already fragile enough.
Can't wait to see more pics of your gorgeous man. I hope he's on the mend.

  13. I've only just found your blog (doing a google search for lazy sewing ways!!) and I couldn't not comment. I have a five month old (baby no.6) who spent her early weeks in special care and almost didn't make it at birth. Just read your story and has brought back so many memories and emotion.
Many blessings for you as you get to know your new little man, and work through all the feelings and memories. Enjoy the school holidays and hope you find good balance soon. xxxxxxx
